How I Survive Cancer

Currently, I have survived cancer with the love and help of many, many loved ones (everyone!) and through a greater understanding of how balance, connections, and spirituality play a part in my life.

My physical symptoms began In November of 2004 as a 25 yr old graduate music student in Chicago, and soon had a surgery to excise a rectal mid-grade carcinoid tumor.  Reversal of the temporary ileostomy was successful, and I continue to be grateful everyday for the extremely talented surgeon who was able to make that happen!!  I currently have some liver mets which are stable, and continue on my journey by being thankful for all of those people who help make that happen! (my parents, Ryan, Colette Chase, Gerson Institute)

Playing, listening, and loving music has also helped my survival...Since being diagnosed, I have won a great job and now play trumpet professionally in DC with the President's Own Marine Band...let me know if you're in the area and want to check it out!

How I Fight for a Cure

I'm supporting research for carcinoid treatment by running the Chicago Marathon...help support me support them by checking out the Caring for Carcinoid funds page!

My Caring Words of Encouragement

Find out what you need to do emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually to be healthy.  Love, balance, and support every dimension.

Also, it's ok to not be ok. :)
