CFCF-AACR Grant for Carcinoid Tumor and Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor Research - Deadline February 1, 2012

The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF) is proud to announce a new neuroendocrine tumor research grant opportunity made possible by the continued collaboration with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). CFCF and AACR are working together to increase the understanding of neuroendocrine tumor biology, elucidate the mechanisms of currently available therapies, and identify new treatment targets for carcinoid and pancreatic neuroendocrine cancers.

We expect to award a minimum of two grants of $250,000 each, paid over a two year period.  We are seeking investigators pursuing innovative ideas and approaches that have a direct application and relevance to carcinoid cancer or pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer. Applications are invited from researchers currently in the field, as well as from investigators with experience in other areas of cancer research.

Research areas may be basic, translational, clinical or epidemiological in nature.  The research priorities of CFCF include a desire to equitably provide support for both carcinoid tumor and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor research.  In accordance with Foundation priorities, applicants are encouraged, for example, to submit proposals that will improve understanding of recently identified mutations in DAXX and ATRX and how they relate to neuroendocrine tumor development.

For further details or to apply please see the Program Guidelines. Applications will be accepted until February 1, 2012.
