CFCF's First Clinical Trial

I am pleased to announce our latest research grant to study a potential new treatment for patients with neuroendocrine tumors. After much deliberation, the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation’s Board of Directors voted to fund a clinical trial for patients with carcinoid cancer for both treatment with the radionuclide, Lutetium-177 and imaging with the radionuclide, Gallium-68.  This is the first clinical trial our Board has elected to fund and we are thrilled about this opportunity to help develop a new treatment option for patients living with neuroendocrine cancers in the United States.  It holds exciting potential because:

I am very pleased to begin 2014 by highlighting one of the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation’s breakthrough achievements of 2013.  Dr. Matthew Meyerson, Director of the Center for Cancer Genome Discovery at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, published the results of a next-generation sequencing study of neuroendocrine tumors of the small intestine in Nature Genetics.
