Ron Hollander

Ron Hollander was appointed as the Executive Director of the Caring For Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF) in January 2012.  He is committed to building on the success of CFCF to continue the research that can lead to a cure and to working with others to educate and support the community of those affected by neuroendocrine cancers.

Joining the Foundation has been an exciting and natural extension of Ron’s long career in health care and human services.  He has long been regarded as a mission-driven leader whose collaborative style has helped the organizations he has worked with achieve breakthrough results. His career spans the fields of health care delivery, children’s health, mental health and public health.

Ron was formerly the President and CEO of the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA).  He served MHA and its member institutions for almost 25 years, beginning as a director for regional hospital councils and serving successively as director of strategic planning, senior vice president, and executive vice president. As President of MHA, Ron provided leadership during the rapid restructuring of the Massachusetts health care system, positioning MHA at the forefront of efforts to improve health care quality and patient safety, while ensuring access to an affordable, thriving hospital and health care system.

Ron is an Adjunct Assistant Professor on the faculty of the Tufts Medical School, teaching health policy in the Public Health Department.  A Principal in The Reform Exchange, Ron provided consulting to a variety of multi-stakeholder groups focused on strategy in the context of health reform.

Ron has been a frequent speaker and facilitator on a wide range of health policy topics, particularly the strategic dimensions and implications of health reform.  He has addressed a broad array of health care audiences including association and hospital boards, multi-stakeholder coalitions, business groups and clinical leadership audiences.

Ron has also served on many boards and committees on both the state and national level.  These appointments centered on issues of access to affordable health care, health care reform, health information technology, community benefit, and strategic planning.

In his earlier career, Ron was Director of Corporate Planning for Children's Hospital in Boston.  He began his health care career as a health and social systems consultant, followed by public service as a systems analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health.

He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ron is married with four children and resides in Brookline, Mass.
